No apology is necessary for offering to American readers a play which critics, with singular unanimity, have called one of the most original productions seen on the modern stage. In less than a year's time, "Six Characters in Search of an Author" has won a distinguished place in the dramatic literature of the Western world, attracting audiences and engaging intellects far removed from the particular influences which made it a season's sensation in Italy.
The Father A fattish man in his fifties or sixties with thin, reddish hair, a thick moustache, and piercing, brown oval eyes. Along with the Step-Daughter, he is the Character who most fervently insists on the staging of the Characters' drama. Read an in-depth analysis of The Father.
The Step-Daughter Dashing, impudent, and beautiful. The Step-Daughter also seeks the realization of the Characters' drama to revenge herself on her Father. She is seductive, exhibitionistic and dangerously cruel, performing wildly to lure both the acting company and the author who would give her life. She is obsessed with the spectacle of the Characters' drama and that of her own self-image. Read an in-depth analysis of The Step-Daughter.
The Mother Dressed in modest black and a thick widow's veil. The Mother's face is "wax- like," and her eyes are always downcast. She bears the anguish of the Characters' drama, serving as its horrified spectator. She is the consummate figure of grief. Particularly agonizing to her is the aloofness of her estranged Son, whom she will approach to no avail throughout the play. Read an in-depth analysis of The Mother.
The Son A tall, severe man of twenty-two. The Son appears contemptuous, supercilious, and humiliated by the other Characters. Having been grown up in the country, he is estranged from his family and, in his aloofness, will cause the elimination of the step-children within the Characters' drama. Ironically, he ultimately appear as witness to the two younger children's demise. His role as a character is his ashamed refusal to participate in the spectacle. He protests to the Manager that he is an unrealized character. Read an in-depth analysis of The Son.
The Manager Somewhat slow-witted and of fiery temper. The Manager is largely a comic figure who agrees to play the role of the Characters' author and realizing their drama. Throughout the play, he remains committed to the vulgar notions of reality that the Characters, particularly his double the Father, would trouble and bound to the conventions of the stagecraft.
The Boy Timid and wretched, the fourteen-year-old Boy has been driven mute in his humiliation at having to enter the new household on the Father's charity. As a result, he suffers the Step-Daughter's contempt. He and the Child are "accessory figures" of sorts to the Mother, functioning to keep her torture "actual." Neither exist for themselves. He also wears the black of mourning.
The Child A four-year-old girl dressed in white who also does not speak. The Step-Daughter dotes on the Child out of remorse and pity, particularly in light of what she perceives as the Mother's neglect. Her role is that of the fallen innocent, the Characters' drama demanding the elimination of the stepchildren and return to the original household.
Madame Pace The Step-Daughter's exploitative Madame. Pace is a fat, older woman with "puffy oxygenated hair." She is "rouged and powdered" and wears black silk with a "comical elegance." A pair of scissors hangs from a silver chain at her waist. Conjured out of nowhere in Act II, Pace is an apparition, her birth an exercise in what the Father describes as the magic of the stage. In translation, she speaks a comically broken English.
Leading Lady A stereotypical star of the stage, the Leading Lady bristles at the Characters' experiment. Petty and egotistical, she will not support their laughter, protests their vulgar stage tricks, and continually insists that she will deliver a performance superior to theirs. She plays the role of the Step-Daughter.
Leading Man Another haughty actor, the Leading Man plays the role of the Father. At the beginning of the play, he protests the absurdity of the Pirandello play. He also flirts with the Step-Daughter.
Second Lady The Second Lady plays the role of the Mother.
Juvenile Lead In the company's production, the Juvenile Lead plays the role of the Son.
Prompter The Prompter is an ever-present member of the Crew who holds the book in the first rehearsal and attempts to record the Characters' drama in shorthand.

My years in the Automotive business taught me you can't please all the people all the time. So, after the excellant service I got at Midas Muffler Shop & Complete Auto Service at 680 West 7th Ave in Eugene, Oregon, I decided to write a review after reading a few of the dissatisfied reviews on Yelp that rated the shop at a 3 1/2 Star Rating. When an industry has a less than stellar reputation, expectations from many customers color their perceptions and are many times never pleased because of those reasons and nit pic and complain about trivial things that are bound to happen in a busy shop. When I see a busy shop I see that as a plus, not the whiners and petty folks that never give good reviews. The first bad review on Yelp I saw the reviewer showed his ignorance right away complaing that he was miffed that he was charged an hour rate for a job he felt took a half an hour. Auto shops charge according to the "Chilton Manual" If the shop has a pro that can do the job in less time, is a good thing because there will always be a tech person that takes longer than Book Time. This reviewer bragged he knew alot about car repair but oviously was blowing smoke to justify his ignorance. It's hard for any business to get 5 stars across the board no matter if they deserve it. In the food service industry a good chef will hav e a bad day for example and get the one star review that brings the average down putting out a dish that is sub-par to the restuarants normally high standards. The owner of the Midas, Steve, went above and beyond great customer service and gave me a ride home because Eugene had a snow storm and the cab company I had a booking set to pick me up at the time I dropped my truck off after my usual auto shop recommended I take my truck t9 Steve, Unfortunatley, for my old shop, Steve won my business now as he gave me a ride home in the snow storm that hit so hard my cab company could not honor my pick up reservation as they only had five cabs working. So, hopefully my five star rating will catch his shop up to the four stars that is about as good as it gets for Aiuto Repair shops anywhere. He did it out of a good heart and his shop rates are lower than most.

The non-profit Reveille Foundation is refusing by a Mr Friedman, any
interviews by media which leads one to believe they have something to hide.
With false PO boxes and other discrepancies and failure to provide the services that were
promised to 32 veterans in the former Ramada hotel at the
Portland Oregon's airport area their lack of transparency is very
frustrating for those investigating this 501c3 if in fact they are as
Steven Masone checked their EIN with the IRS and no such EIN

IRS website. Steven Masone of CCHR Human Rights Group of
Oregon and U.S. Veteran-former investigative reporter, spoke with
Mr. Fredman whose email is listed on Revielle Foundation's website
said, "Mr. Freidman hemmed and hawed about the phony mail box
in a property that we already verified with the property owner's
work crew that no one could have had the adress as
the place was vacant for the last two years." Steven asone also
added, "He even denied the Fox 12 KPTV News of Portland video
showing Black Mold on their newscast was false, even though that
and rat infestation is why health officials shut the place down. I also
interviwed a Mr. Spitzer by phone, the supervisor of the VA Per
Diem unit that authorizes the payments to Revelle Foundation,
and he would not tell us the wherabots of the 32 Vets who need to
be medically triaged for being left in in rooms with black mold. "

The Non-profit ‘Reveille Foundation’, allegedly never delivered the substance abuse treatment and meals for these veterans, yet the per diem from VA for 32 Vets is somewhere around $4500 a day. Steven Masone is also an American Legion Chaplain and Service officer who partnered with The Hope Center in Eugene OR, and The VA Hud/VASH Pgm, helped hundreds of homeless Vets into permanent housing. “This is outrageous! said Masone, "I have contacted the VA Inspector General, and am reaching out to Congressional contacts.
Masone a Co-founder with Pastor James Rabe of the Hope Center started an Emergency Shelter for Veterans in Eugene, in Partnership with VA HUD-VASH Program. Masone has reported he spoke with a Mr. “Spitzer the Supervisor who approved Per Diem payments at the Vancouver VA Campus to inform them his Hope Center Homeless Veteran Program could house ten vets immediately in a remodeled home with on premisis substance abuse Program Director, but was told by Spitzer the VA has the veterans somewhere else but would not say where.
Masone further reported that “The Vets should be told of all offers as I am sure more reputable programs who have not failed these Vets, have offered also.” Just today Feb 6th, Masone discovered the Eugene address for a Reveille FoundationPO Box had been vacant for two years. ‘Reveille Foundation lied about having an office and mailbox here and I can't believe the VA or other media did not investigate Reveille Foundation " Reveille Foundation's Arizona adresses are being inestigated also"...said Steven Masone. After being in the Hospitality business for 30 years, I have found that first impressions set the customer's expectations and has the greatest effect on their decisions to be a repeat customer. "You have only have one chance to make a first impression!"
My first impression was when I called to confirm my reservation. No AI or third party live or software annoucements etc... that are cold and impersonal messages...but a personal greeting by General Manager Eric Peluschenko. I was impressed.
When I arrived, Athena at the front Desk was sincerely friendly and even helped me personally with my baggage to my very nice 2nd floor King room. Checking out, on front desk was Barbara, who was as sincerely helpful and competent as Athena.
Now a snack at their great trendy kitchen & Bar....where Grace, the Bartender and great facilitator of keeping her customers in ingaing conversations, skilled in knowing how to "work entertaining conversations of customers, it felt like a re-run of a combo "FRIENDS-SEiNFIELD-CHEERS EPISODE while muti- tasking her orders not mIssing A beat! My Garlic fries were the Bomb!
At breakast, my server, Trey, was right there with his contemporaries with frienly banter and professional service. He recommded the Homade "Spam & Whisky Bacon Signature breakfast, with homemade O'brian potatoes, two eggs to order, and choice of toast... and I chose the marbles rye toast...excellant through and through! We talked about Spam festivals as one in Southern Oregon in Shady Cove was very popular, but not sure if it has resurrected since pandemic. The Head Chef...Troy Sasazzmann created the delicious homeade Spam that I would bet on to win first place in any 'Spam Festival Competiton Contest!" Safe part of Portland, Safe underground parking.
